Frequently Asked Questions You May Be Too Shy To Ask Your Service Provider

Updated: Jun 26, 2023

To some, hair removal can be perhaps an embarrassing process at some moments. The reality is that our Waxologists have seen and heard a lot. Whether you’ve never been to a hair removal center before or visit one rather frequently, there may be questions you are too shy to ask your Waxologist. So we’ve put together a short list of frequently asked questions that we have heard and that may be on your mind as well. Read them out below, and if you have any other questions that are not below, feel free to email us before your visit.

Do I have to be completely naked during a waxing appointment?

No, but the amount of clothing you need to remove depends on the service you’re receiving. Keep in mind, some services require more skin to be showing than others. If you’re getting a Brow or Upper Lip service, the clothes should stay on. However, if you’re getting a Full Body or Bikini service, the story is a little different. For Brazilian services, the pants and underwear need to come off. For a Bikini wax, we recommend you wear panties or underwear that won't get in the way of waxing the bikini line. If you’re feeling anxious, please remember that you’re in a safe place and our Waxologists have waxed hundreds of clients!

Will I be judged if I haven’t removed my hair in a while (or ever)?

Never! Our facility is a totally judgement free zone. We believe no one should ever feel ashamed or embarrassed about their body hair or how much they grow, it’s natural! We’re here to help remove as little or as much as you would like.

I have hemorrhoids, will I be judged if I get a Brazilian?

Absolutely not! Do not let a few pesky hemorrhoids get in the way of getting a service you really want. Hemorrhoids are a very common issue, for both women and men. We assure you, our service providers have waxed around hemorrhoids before, and we want to assure you we will never judge you because of your body. However, if you’re nervous about getting a Brazilian with hemorrhoids, simply communicate your fears to your Waxologist, or you can request to not have the hair removed between the buttocks.

Is it weird to get waxing services if I’m a man?

Not at ALL! A good portion of our clientele is male. We created Smooth Body Wax Center to be gender neutral intentionally so that men could feel comfortable and welcome in our location also. If you are a male that has pesky hair that needs to be removed, you can trust that you will be in good hands at Smooth Body Wax Center.

Can I still get a Bikini or Brazilian service if I’m on my period?

Definitely! It’s a common misconception that getting waxed on your period is a not ok. The reality is that our Waxologists couldn’t care less. It’s really a matter of personal preference. For some women, being on their period makes them more sensitive to pain and this could make waxing more uncomfortable for them. For others, increased sensitivity is not an issue. If you think that you wouldn't mind waxing during your cycle, don’t hesitate to book an appointment. If necessary, you can consider taking a pain reliever like Tylenol before your service. To prepare for your service, be sure to take a shower and insert a clean tampon.

How long do I have to wait to have sex after getting a Brazilian Wax?

After your Brazilian wax, you may feel particularly sexy. We totally get it! While you may want to flaunt your gorgeous self as soon as possible, we do recommend that you wait a minimum of 24 hours to have sex. This also applies to activities that cause you to sweat, such as working out. This is because bacteria and sweat (either yours, a partner’s, or both), can make their way into your hair follicles and cause irritation, and/or infection. So consider waiting a day or so before getting horizontal (or vertical, or whatever - no judgment here).

Can I get a Brazilian Wax while pregnant?

Absolutely! Many of our clients receive Brazilian waxes not just for the look and feel, but also as a means of maintaining their personal hygiene. Maintaining this routine during pregnancy will certainly keep your feeling like yourself during this wonderful time of change for your body. For women who prefer to shave, we know things will become harder to reach (and see) as the baby grows bigger. Additionally laser hair removal and depilatory creams are not permitted during pregnancy, leaving few options. With frequent doctor visits that come with pregnancy, wanting to keep up with hair removal maintenance for the bikini area becomes a priority. Receiving a Brazilian wax will not harm your sweet bundle of joy and we will be sure to make this experience comfortable using positions that are easier for you and the baby.

Being in this business we see and experience a lot. We are excited to see you and make you feel confident in your body. Our mission is to deliver the best experience possible in a comfortable and welcoming environment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
